In a tough economy, hiring managers can afford to be even more picky than usual to only pick the best candidates available. This may leave women and minority candidates feeling like they have even less of a chance, but don’t sell yourself short - it is in just this type of environment that you are able to really shine. Being part of a minority, by definition, means that there are fewer of you available. You have unique value to offer a job recruiter. How is this possible? Here are some ways you may be able to sell yourself and your special value to possible employers:

Take some time to think about how the things that make you different also make you more marketable and better able to serve a potential employer. If you can bring these out in the application process you can use who you are to your advantage and land that job!
