In a tough economy, hiring managers can afford to be even more picky than usual to only pick the best candidates available. This may leave women and minority candidates feeling like they have even less of a chance, but don’t sell yourself short - it is in just this type of environment that you are able to really shine. Being part of a minority, by definition, means that there are fewer of you available. You have unique value to offer a job recruiter. How is this possible?
